2018 Ford F-150 Trim Levels Explained

2018 Ford F-150 LARIAT SuperCrew

For the latest gadgets and best capability, few rivals can stand up to the menu the 2018 Ford F-150 has to offer. Having been named this year’s Best Buy among light-duty trucks by Kelley Blue Book, it also holds the Truck of the Year Award from Motor Trend. The F-150 has seven trim levels that offer a variety of bed/cab configurations. This review is designed to give you the information you need to narrow down your choices.

How many people do you need to seat? XL and XLT models let you choose the three-seat regular cab. SuperCab and SuperCrew models are offered across the lineup with few exceptions. These seat five or six depending on whether you choose a bench for the front seat or the cushy bucket seats with center console.

How big does the bed need to be? If you want the long bed, it is usually matched with the regular bed, but you can get a Lariat SuperCab with the eight-footer. The 6.5-foot bed is matched in most instances to the regular or SuperCab. All models let you choose a 5.5-foot bed with either two-row cabin.

Which models handle interior cargo? For this, two-row cabins are the best option. SuperCrew cabins even provide a flat load floor.

Which models are off-roaders? If you want a do-anything kind of ride, you can choose a 4x4 of any F-150. Then you will want to add skid plates and other off-road equipment. To take things to an extreme, the 2018 Ford Raptor has everything you need. Terrain management functions, electronic locking differentials, and Fox Racing Shox are among its many assets. Wheel travel, suspension travel and ground clearance are maximized with the 4x4 Raptor.

Do all editions have dash technology? The XL has the option of Sync with AppLink. XLT models have this system which makes it easy to use voice commands and enjoy Bluetooth streaming audio choices. Adding Sync 3 touchscreen, Lariats have the latest connectivity features including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. King Ranch models add a premium audio system with more speakers to surround you with sound. A Wi-Fi hotspot is an option with the Sync Connect system.

What’s the best business truck? There are many different capabilities. If you want to keep to a strict budget and have an easy-clean interior, that’s the XL V6 with vinyl option. For power accessories, step up to the XLT. On these models, all engines are offered, but the affordable 295-horsepower V6 is standard. Stepping over to the Lariat, an Ecoboost engine pushes horsepower to 325. It offers the V8 that’s standard on the King Ranch or Platinum. These three higher trims offer the Limited’s standard Ecoboost V6, too. It produces 375 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque.

Which trucks pamper their riders? Power chairs are standard with Lariats and higher editions. Massaging chairs are found on Platinum and Limited editions. Power-adjusting pedals, a power-adjusting steering column, and heated/ventilated seats are on these and King Ranch models. Leather is another common denominator with wood and other fine trim materials are added as you climb the ladder.

Which trucks are safest? All models share the five-star safety rating from the NHTSA. Platinum trims have standard blind spot monitors while Limited trims add a forward collision warning. A 360-degree camera system and Pro Trailer Backup Assist are offered.

As you will discover at Mall of Georgia Ford, this review only scratches the surface of the many ways the F-150 can serve your needs. Stop by for a test drive today!
