Cars.com's Compact SUV Challenge Winner Is the Escape

Shopping around for a compact SUV, but having a tough time deciding which to choose?

We get it. There are many options in the class, from the Toyota RAV4 to the Honda CR-V, Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson.

However, one utility vehicle recently beat all of these options in Cars.com’s Compact SUV Challenge. The new 2017 Ford Escape had a leg up on the competition, winning judges over with its user-friendly multimedia interface, comfortable cabin and other great attributes.

All SUVs were driven “back-to-back-to-back on the same pavement to evaluate ride, handling, comfort, acceleration and more,” according to Cars.com. And the Ford Escape earned the highest scores overall from the site’s test drivers.

Where did the Escape score highest?

Car Seat Installation
The 2017 Ford Escape earned a 10 out of 10 score for ease of installing child safety seats. Thanks to its exposed LATCH anchors, doing so is a breeze.

Quiet & Smooth Ride
Judges commended the Escape for its superbly quiet cabin and sophisticated driving dynamics, which one judge called the best among the group.

Infotainment Technology
Escape also scored the highest among its challengers for infotainment. Judges called the SUV’s new Sync 3 interface attractive and easy to use.
