Ford To Invest Billions for America's Shift to Electric Vehicles

Ford has recently decided to invest in electric vehicles along with the company SK Innovation from Korea. This company makes EV batteries. The plan is for this partnership to invest 11.4 billion dollars in electric vehicles. Most of this will be used in the form of factories.

Factories

For example, Ford is planning on building a factory in Tennessee it will call Blue Oval City. This factory will be 6 square miles in terms of the area covered. Its purpose is going to build next-generation batteries for electric pickup trucks. The factory will be in operation starting in the year 2025. These battery packs and others will help give the energy needed for brand new Ford and Lincoln Electric Vehicles.

Ford's factories in plants in Texas and Michigan are already ramping up their production, so the increase of electric vehicles from Ford will be happening sooner rather than later. Currently, the number of EV machines that are produced in the United States makes up a tiny fraction of the number made throughout the world.

The people at Ford are seeking to help change this by having the factories needed to make these zero-emission vehicles at a huge scale. They even have ambitious goals to make a certain number over the next ten years.

Sources of EV Investment

In order for Ford to be able to do this to the degree that they want, however, they will need government help. The current administration has talked about a new tailpipe emissions law that will go into effect in 2026 that will increase support for electric vehicles. On top of that, there will also be billions of dollars put into creating customer incentives. There are additional plans to create electric charging points to make it easier for people to charge up their vehicles and justify getting an EV in the first place.

An increase of interest in electric vehicles from places like Ford or Lincoln will only help the economy, make the world greener, and push towards a more sustainable future.
