Specs at a Glance
The Ford Edge has become a favorite among automobile lovers of all age groups. This mid-size SUV has carved out its niche, to say the least, because it does just about everything that you'd want in a modern-day vehicle. The Edge comes in various trims, but here's a quick comparison between the SE and ST trims.
Performance That Matters
When comparing the Ford Edge SE to its ST counterpart, the most significant difference among the two vehicles is engine performance. The SE trim comes equipped with a 2.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged engine that will deliver an estimated 250 horsepower. This direct-injected, four-cylinder engine will also produce as much as 280 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive comes standard with the SE, but there's an option for Intelligent all-wheel drive. All of this power is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
On the other hand, the Ford Edge ST comes from the factory with a hefty amount of power. This particular trim just so happens to be the performance version of the standard Edge. Instead of having a four-cylinder engine like its counterpart, the ST trim comes equipped with a V6. This V6 yields EcoBoost technology, and it's 2.7 liters in size. In addition to that, direct injection is available. The Edge ST will generate as much as 335 horsepower and will produce an astounding 380 pound-feet of torque. Intelligent all-wheel drive comes standard with this machine as well as an eight-speed automatic transmission. The ST's engine block is made from compacted graphite iron, but the SE's engine block is made from cast aluminum.
Engine performance isn't the only difference between the two contenders. The Ford Edge SE can be purchased with several wheel sizes and designs. This includes 18-inch painted-silver wheels, 19-inch painted-aluminum wheels, 20-inch aluminum wheels, and more. When looking at the Edge ST trim, this vehicle will come equipped with 21-inch gloss black, painted aluminum wheels. On top of that, the ST trim will display Colorado red brake calipers.
Other Similarities & Differences
Both of these available trims have enough seating for at least five people and hosts a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The SE trim sports a 10-way power driver's seat while the ST's front passenger seat is 10-way powered. Since the ST trim is performance enhanced, the front seats are also bucket bolstered. The ST logo is embossed on the seatbacks. On another note, these two trims will offer:
- 4G LTE Wi-Fi
- Two Smart-Charge USB Ports
- Cargo Management System
- Dual-Illuminated Vanity Mirrors
- And more
