Specs at a Glance
Significant revisions make the 2025 Ford Maverick® an even more enticing compact pickup. In addition to its refreshed styling, the latest Maverick® boasts the upgraded SYNC 4 infotainment system. When shopping for a new Maverick®, buyers will often weigh the XLT versus the Lobo™ trim options. Let's compare these two.
Performance
The Maverick® XLT comes standard with a 2.5L hybrid engine, making it among the most efficient trucks in its category. Ford rates this powertrain at a combined 191 horsepower. A continuously variable transmission further improves fuel efficiency. For those craving more power, the XLT offers an optional 2.0L EcoBoost engine that delivers a strong 250 horsepower. While front-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is an available upgrade.
On the Maverick® Lobo™, the 2.0L EcoBoost engine comes standard. It is coupled with a special seven-speed automatic transmission featuring integrated paddle shifters for a more engaging drive. Ford engineers the Lobo™ trim for sportier on-road performance, highlighted by a lowered suspension and performance-tuned steering. The Lobo™ also includes beefier brakes and a torque-vectoring AWD system.
Appearance
The 2025 XLT trim benefits from the Maverick®'s refreshed design, including a restyled front fascia and darkened headlamp covers. Ford accents the XLT with 17-inch Carbonized Gray aluminum wheels. Several vibrant exterior colors are available, such as Ruby Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat and Azure Gray Metallic Tri-Coat.
By comparison, the Maverick® Lobo™ sports a more aggressive street-truck presence with its lowered stance, exclusive 19-inch black wheels, and distinctive grille. Its bold styling sets it apart from the rest of the lineup.
Features
A standout feature of the XLT trim is the updated SYNC 4 infotainment system, boasting a larger 13.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration. Other standard features include Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start, in-bed cubby storage, and an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster.
Inside the Maverick® Lobo™, ActiveX seating with accent stitching gives the cabin a premium feel. Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control is standard, and an available B&O premium sound system caters to music lovers.
