What's New for the 2018 Ford Taurus?

For fans of the Ford Taurus, the new 2018 model should look very familiar-all the features of the 2017 edition have carried over into this year. However, when you consider the fact that the Taurus is Ford's flagship sedan model, you can see why updates would be sparse. There's no reason to mess with the comfort, features, and style that consumers have come to expect from the vehicle.

Unique Trims and Styles for Everyone

The Ford Taurus offers four different trim options this year, the SE, SEL, Limited and SHO. The base level SE trim provides consumers with a vehicle that is reliable and, more importantly, affordable. With the SE you'll get the SYNC infotainment system with a 4.2 inch touchscreen, keypad entry, a post-crash alert system, a DC power outlet, USB connectivity, internet access and six-speaker audio. Next up is the SEL trim, which in addition to the standard features of the SE, you'll also find automatic climate control, leather steering wheel, parking sensors, remote engine start and speed sensitive volume. If you opt for the Limited trim, you'll notice a significant uptick in features. At this level, you'll get a Sony audio system, eight-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel, blind spot monitoring, valet function and steering wheel audio controls. The SHO trim is the right choice for consumers that are looking for a top-of-the-line model with plenty of useful features. It is only offered with all-wheel drive. It comes with adjustable pedals, remote window control, steering wheel memory, auto-locking doors, a free satellite radio trial, twelve-speaker audio and voice-activated radio.

Strong Performance in Every Category

2018 Ford Taurus FrontThe Taurus SE, SEL, and Limited editions all come with a 3.5-liter V6 engine capable of 288 horsepower. Transmission for these trims is six-speed automatic with overdrive and automated manual transmission. For the pricier SHO trim, the 2018 Taurus engine is still a 3.5-liter V6, but its horsepower clocks in at 365. As with the other options, the Taurus SHO has six-speed automatic transmission. Either horsepower option will provide you with a ride that accelerates quickly and drives smoothly. Additionally, the 2018 Taurus offers above average handling when compared to other sedans that are similar in size, and this is especially apparent with the SHO trim.

2018 Ford Taurus Safety

2018 Ford Taurus RearThe Insurance Institute for Highway Safety ranked the 2018 Taurus as "good" (their highest rating) in four categories: moderate overlap front, side impact, rear crash protection, and roof strength. Similarly, the model got top marks from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in its overall rating of the vehicle, as well as its rating for frontal and side crashes. Standard safety features at all trim levels include 911 assistance, child safety locks, occupancy sensor, tire pressure sensor and LED brake lights.
