What's New for the 2019 Ford Mustang?

This year, the Mustang Bullitt is back. In addition to unique styling flourishes, it comes standard with the Performance package, giving you a premium ride right out of the box. The Mustang now offers an optional dual-mode active-valve exhaust for the EcoBoost model, giving its four-cylinder powertrain an increasingly aggressive sound. If you prefer the Mustang GT with the manual gearbox, you'll be pleased to know that it now comes standard with rev-matching technology to smooth out your downshifts.

How Did Ford Improve this American Icon?

Shoppers can choose from five Mustang trim models: EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT, GT Premium, and Bullitt.

The Mustang EcoBoost starts you off with an excellent array of convenience features, such as an auto-dimming rearview mirror and keyless entry and ignition. The cabin sports standard Bluetooth and two USB ports, so you can stream music and keep devices charged on the go. There's also an impressive list of performance features. Use the electric line-lock to enable burnouts. If your EcoBoost has the manual transmission, it also comes with launch control to get you off to a solid start.

The EcoBoost Premium builds on the base model's performance-friendly lineup with rich interior comfort features. These include leather upholstery and a nine-speaker audio system. Up front, dual-zone automatic climate control maintains two different temperatures for driver and passenger. The EcoBoost Premium also gives you an infotainment upgrade, courtesy of the Sync 3 infotainment system. It includes an easy-to-use touchscreen and complete smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Mustang GT is a lot like the EcoBoost model, with an impressive array of performance gear and modern convenience features. However, there's one notable difference: it comes with the 5.0-liter V8 engine instead of the EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The GT also adds rear parking sensors to help you get in and out of parallel parking spaces without a scratch. Its power-adjustable front seats also make it easier to find that Goldilocks position at the wheel.

True Mustang enthusiasts will be lusting after this year's special-edition Bullitt. It's easy to spot, thanks to its unique Highland Green paint and special wheels. It also comes standard with the Performance package, a cost-extra option on other models. This package gives you everything you need to maintain a speedy ride, including a bigger radiator and bigger brakes. It also includes stiffer front springs and a larger rear stabilizer bar for a sportier ride overall.
