What's New For the 2020 Ford Escape?

The 2020 model year ushers in the fourth production cycle of the Escape, Ford's compact crossover SUV. The Ford Escape is wholly redesigned: with better handling, more safety features, and better power and accelerating ability than previous models.

2020 Ford Escape Interior

The Ford Escape Has Many Features Across Several Trims

There are four 2020 Ford Escape trims, which are the S, SE, SEL, and Titanium. With two rows of seats to accommodate up to five people, the crossover vehicle counts cloth seat upholstery, a 6-way manually adjustable driver's seat, and a 4-way manually adjustable passenger seat as standard. Front-seat heating and 10-way power adjustability on the driver's seat appear on the SE trim. At the SEL trim level, the Escape is enhanced with ActiveX seating material, a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, and driver-side memory. At the Titanium trim level, you will get leather seat upholstery and 6-way power adjustability on the front passenger seat.

The 2020 Escape's standard comfort and convenience amenities include proximity key entry, a 4.2-inch instrument cluster, a SiriusXM satellite radio trial subscription, FordPass Connect (for features and functions such as remote start/stop, remote lock/unlock, and vehicle), and a six-speaker stereo system. At the SE trim level, Ford introduces a smart key system with push-button engine start, electronic automatic temperature control, and SYNC 3 infotainment integration. The SEL gets additions such as remote engine start and trial subscriptions to SiriusXM Traffic and SiriusXM Travel Link. The Titanium is the only trim with an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a garage-door opener, dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control, and a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.

2020 Escape Power & Performance

2020 Ford EscapeUnder the hood of the S, SE, and SEL trims is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost inline 3-cylinder (I3) engine with 180 horsepower and an auto start-stop system to eliminate idling. This engine is hitched to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Ford offers the possibility of getting a 2.0-liter EcoBoost I4 instead of an increase of horsepower to 250. Unique to the Titanium is a 198-horsepower 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle I4 engine that comes with a continuously variable transmission.

2020 Ford Escape has an Abundance of Safety Features

2020 Ford EscapeStandard safety features on the 2020 Ford Escape include seven airbags, a rearview camera, electronic stability control, roll stability control, SOS post-crash alert system, a seatbelt reminder, torque vectoring control, curve control, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, traction control, high auto beams, and a theft-deterrent system. Also present is the Ford Co-Pilot360, which is a suite of driver-assistance technologies that include lane-keep assist, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert. Optional or likely to appear on upper-level trims are features such as lane centering, adaptive cruise control, a reverse sensing system, stop-and-go technology, and active park assist.
