2021 Ford Escape

What's New For the 2021 Ford Escape?

The 2021 model year welcomes the Ford Escape's fourth production cycle with a model that provides excellent seating accommodation, a user-friendly infotainment system, added hybrid powertrains on two trims, and many standard driver-assistance features.

2021 Escape Has Varied Trim Levels & Countless Features

The 2021 Ford Escape is available in five main trim levels: S, SE, SE Sport, SEL, and Titanium. Two rows of cloth-trimmed seats accommodate up to five occupants. Front-seat heating and a power-adjustable driver-seat are included on the SE trim level. Go with the SEL if you want driver-side memory, synthetic leather seat trim, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with heating ability. Only the Titanium, as the most luxury-focused trim of the bunch, has leather upholstery and upgrading power adjustability to the front-passenger seat.

Standard infotainment on the Escape comes from the SYNC communications system, which is anchored by a 4.2-inch display and includes a USB port, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a six-speaker AM/FM stereo system. Upgrade to the SE to get automatic climate control, push-button engine start, a trial subscription to SiriusXM Radio, and the SYNC 3 communication system with an 8-inch touchscreen. The SEL trim gains remote engine start and trial SiriusXM Traffic and SiriusXM Travel Link services. Only the Titanium has dual-zone electronic automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a garage-door opener, and a 10-speaker stereo system.

What's Under the Hood of the Escape?

At the base level, the 2021 Ford Escape goes with the fuel-efficient 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, which produces 180 horsepower. However, for more acceleration ability, go with the turbocharged 250-horsepower 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine. Notably, the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder is standard on the Titanium and optional on the SE and SEL. Two hybrid options exist, both a variant of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder. The hybrid gets 165 HP and 155 lb-ft of torque, and the plug-in hybrid gets 221 HP.

2021 Ford Escape Safety Technologies

Safety on the 2021 Escape is superb due to the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite of driver-assistance technologies. Ford Co-Pilot360 consists of lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, and rear cross-traffic alert. Not surprisingly, the Escape has a Top Safety Pick designation from the Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) due to its remarkable performance on the organization's crashworthiness tests.

For protection when there's a crash, the Escape provides seven airbags, and there's an SOS post-crash alert system for contacting a 24/7 response agent. Exclusive to the Titanium are front and rear parking sensors that join the standard rearview camera, as well as adaptive cruise control and stop-and-go and lane centering for additional driver assistance.
