2021 Ford Explorer

What's New For the 2021 Ford Explorer?

The Ford Explorer has some trim-specific changes in 2021, adding more standard features and available packages. This popular mid-size crossover has a new Sports Appearance package available for the XLT trim.

Which Features Are Available for 2021?

An assortment of features is standard or optional for the 2021 Ford Explorer. First, the Explorer gets a well-equipped interior with three-zone climate control and split-folding seats in the back rows. The Explorer also has a driver's seat with power adjustment. Its technology includes an eight-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. A Wi-Fi hotspot is also included on the base trim. Through a smartphone app, you have access to remote control and monitoring.

The XLT, which is the second Explorer trim, has more interior and exterior features. Roof rails are added to this trim level. It also gets a keypad and remote entry for security. The front seats are heated, and the driver's seat is power-adjustable. While the base trim seats seven occupants, the XLT has captain's chairs and a reduced seating capacity of six. The Limited trim is next with higher-quality interior amenities. Leather seats are an upgrade on the Limited, which also has ambient lights in the cabin. The steering wheel is heated, and ventilation is added to the front seats.

Sunshades in the back row are standard, along with an enhanced infotainment system navigation and voice control recognition. More safety features are added to the Limited, and it has a higher-end sound system with 12 speakers. The ST has sportier accents, including front sports seats and a digital instrument display panel. The lineup ends with the Platinum, which has adaptive headlights and a digital gauge cluster. This trim comes with a towing package as well. Some features are available for the 2021 Explorer, including massaging front seats and a sunroof.
