What's New For the 2020 Ford Fusion?

Along with exceptional fuel efficiency, it's the spaciousness and features that make the Ford Fusion a strong player in its category. In the 2020 Ford Fusion mid-size sedan, both advantages become especially attractive when combined with the improvements ford has made for the 2020 model year. Let's take a look at some of the features that Ford has improved and kept in the 2020 model year.

Which Features are Available for 2020?

The 2020 Ford Fusion comes in 8 versions, the S, SE, SEL, Titanium, Hybrid SE, Hybrid SEL, Hybrid Titanium, and Plug-in Hybrid Titanium, with the hybrid editions mirroring their standard counterparts in terms of features. Things start with the basic S model that's anything but basic when considering the air conditioning, AM/FM/MP3 sound system with 4 speakers and CD player, a pair of 12-volt outlets, and a 4.2-inch touchscreen within.

The SE trim includes 6 speakers, 2 climate zones, and an 8-inch touchscreen. It sounds even better in the SEL model with 11 speakers enjoyed from heated front seats. The driver's seat comes with 10 automated positions while the front passenger seat comes with 6. Top opulence is found in the Titanium edition with a power moonroof, leather trim, front in-seat cooling, and 12-speaker audio.

How does the Ford Fusion Engine Balance Power Needs and Fuel Economy?

2020 Ford FusionThe 2020 Fusion has more than one way to get around that starts with a 2.5-liter straight-4 under the hood of the S edition that pushes out 175 horsepower. Attached to a 6-speed automatic transmission that also partners with the other two standard blocks, it gets 21 mpg city and 31 mpg highway. The first of two turbocharged versions is an EcoBoost 1.5-liter turbo-4 machine that attains 181 horsepower while offering 23 mpg city and 34 mpg highway. Quick acceleration is supplied by an EcoBoost 2-liter turbo-4 that climbs to 245 horsepower with 21 mpg city and 31 mpg highway.

Going for maximum fuel economy is easy in the Hybrid SE, Hybrid SEL, and Hybrid Titanium models that combine a 2-liter inline-4 standard engine with an 88-kW electric motor for a total power output of 188 horsepower. Energy is stored in a 1.4-kWh lithium-ion battery pack and passed along to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission. Choosing the Fusion Titanium Plug-in Hybrid lets you shift between hybrid mode and pure electric mode that can transport the sedan up to 25 miles on a 9-kWh battery pack alone.

Packed with Strong Safety Features

2020 Ford FusionEnhancing this structural integrity are items like stability and traction control, antilock brakes, airbags, and a rearview camera. The Ford Fusion also takes a smart approach to safety with Ford Co-Pilot360 technology that warns the driver of a pedestrian or potential collision ahead and activates braking if necessary, keeps the Fusion in its proper lane, monitors the normal blind spot along with rear cross-traffic, and employs adaptive cruise control. It even activates windshield wipers when rain is detected.
